Inside the front cover we have the bookplate of Phineas Janney Jr, stating that it was bequeathed to him by his uncle Phineas Janney, and his aunt Sarah S. Janney 1852-3. Phineas and Sarah were Quakers who lived in Virginia, and the two dates refer to their dates of death.
